Originally published by Edgar Lee Masters in 1915, this series of free‑verse poems parts the curtains of civility and reveal the raw passions that fuel the lives of a small town. Delivered by the ghosts of the deceased, these stories voice the secrets they guarded during their days on earth. In turn both humorous and heart-wrenching, these stories continue to speak to people across the ages.
